Below is a sampling of enough information to play a game right off the bat. Some final version of this will be in the Another Hero game book. It’s nothing amazing, and to be honest, almost all of the names are anagrams of names from other things. That being said, it’s a nice, simple starter game that a trio of people could use to play. Give it a look, see what you think.
Is it fully ready to go? Well, maybe not. It’s not pretty, it’s missing tons of examples of all sorts, but all the rules are typed up. There’s enough to give it a try.
This is by no means the final version of Another Hero. In addition to all the details that need to be completed, tons of formatting, and maybe a little bit of art, it’s going to undergo a lot of testing and will very likely need rules tweaks of all sorts. That being said, it’s playable, so give it a go. Here’s the link.
Like it? Hate it? Drop me a line and let me know what you think in the comments. Yes, I know it looks terrible – it’s not even a beta version. This is a very early prototype, so look at the rules, not the presentation. Cause the presentation is bad. I mean really. Just look at it if you don’t believe me.
It’s a slow process, but I’m typing up the notes bit by bit. One or two panels a night, and I’ll get there eventually. It’s nice going through the notes and typing them up – I’m experiencing the panels all over again as I go. It’s helping me to really absorb and internalize the things I learned during ECCC.
Using those ECCC lessons, I’m slowly working on a (very) short Exalted fic, which will be posted here as soon as it’s finished. And then I’ll write something else, but who knows what.
Another Hero is one good writing day away from being in its third alpha iteration. Soon as it’s done, it’ll be up here and I’ll be seeking out playtesters to see how well it works. Once it’s to that stage, I want to have a few games run and get some feedback before I tinker with it, so it’ll be time to start prototyping something else. I’ve got a couple ideas, so it’ll come down to whichever one gets formed enough to play a little with first.
Time to talk a little bit about Another Hero, and the covenants with powerful entities known as Alignments. Continue reading
So, I’m still working on Table Tactics (and being terrible about posting on this site), but all of my game making attention has been drawn to Another Hero. It’s a game that my friend Dylan and I are developing. Inspired by a variety of things (including such far ranging things as Dark Souls, Exalted, and Polaris), it seeks to capture a desolate setting where Heroes can perform great feats, but only at risk of becoming great monsters. So, I’ll talk about the various aspects of it a bit more as time goes on, but here’s my unedited slapdash alpha information: LINK
