Making Things – Part 1

Alright, if anyone exists out there that actually reads this, you’re likely aware that I’m very into video games. From looking at the incredible amount of systems conjecture and ideas, you’ve likely guessed that I intend to make games (or at least dream of it). So, instead of plugging away at FFIX (though I will be coming back to that because I love that game and the world that it presents), I’ve been dumping a ton of time into learning Unity, C#, and (to a much lesser extent as a hobby kinda thing) asm for the 6502.

What does that mean for this website?

A pretty strong shift in focus, actually. I’ll still be talking about games I’ve played and ideas for specific mechanics, but things are going to get a little more technical and development focused. Expect to see snippets of asm code, prototypes of rough ideas, and design docs for things I may some day make. I’m going to post all of them here in the knowledge that someone might come along and take the ideas and run with them. That’s fine. These are going to be games and mechanics that I want to exist and people to experience, and if I’m not the person to bring them about, I accept that. Ideally I will be, but who knows.

So, in the spirit of creation, here’s a screenshot of the first ever proof of concept/prototype that I’ve done any work from scratch on:

What is it, you may ask? Well, don’t worry about that too much. It’s painfully bare bones, but I’ll be polishing it up and putting it on here sooner or later. Hope you folks are looking as forward to the new RFS as I am. Assuming there is anyone out there reading this, anyways.
